In Understanding Isaiah In the Book of Mormon, each Isaiah Book of Mormon chapter is discussed with other related scriptural insights added to enhance understanding. The author also shows how geographical and historical clues can help to understand the scripture. Each of the four periods of prophetic fulfillment is covered, with extra attention given to Isaiah’s prophesies of future events such as the coming of the Ten Tribes, the return and redemption of Israel, the Rod and the Branch, the Battle of Armageddon, the glory of Jerusalem during the rule of David the Prince, and Christ’s coming in glory. Jesus Christ told the Nephites: “A commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah.” (3 Ne. 23:1-3). Isaiah prophesied about four distinct periods of time, called the Periods of Prophetic Fulfillment. He spoke of events connected with (1) the fall of Israel to Assyria, and the happenings concerning  that period; (2) the fall of Judah to Babylonia, the Babylonian captivity, and the return of the Jews to Jerusalem. His prophetic vision turned to (3) the mortal ministry of Jesus Christ, and he also provided many prophetic insights about (4) the last days.
