Parables of Jesus Christ

Parables are “teaching stories.” During His ministry, Jesus often used parables to explain the “life-direction” gospel messages. They were spoken in His discourses, in conversations with His followers, and in debates with His critics.

Those life-direction parables have meanings and messages that still apply to situations we encounter today.  This concise listing of 60 of His parables carefully identifies their sources in the New Testament gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.  A good number of those life-direction stories are reported in more than one Bible source. This list shows those multiple references and indicates the “best” (most complete and/or descriptive) reference for each one of them.
