Lord, I Would Follow Thee

Duane Crowther's SATB arrangement of the beloved LDS hymn Lord, I Would Follow Thee conveys the sweet flavor of the original composition while subtly adding occasional unique harmonies that give it a memorable touch. The hymn is an intimate prayer addressed directly to the Savior. It reflects the many varied yearnings of a humble supplicant: a desire to grow in love for the Savior and to follow His example; a concern for others and a longing to truly help them; an acknowledgment of personal weaknesses and a recognition that it is not one's place to be judgmental of others; a recognition of the need to be our brother's keeper and to truly aid the wounded and weary; a desire to reflect the Savior's love by loving others sincerely and deeply; and finally, a plea for strength and divine direction and a commitment to truly serve the Lord. This hymn is so dearly loved by the Saints because it reflects poignant feelings and tender longings which are universally shared by all of us. Unlike most hymn arrangements, this one comes with a page of valuable performance suggestions which can help the director convey these many feelings in the performance. The arrangement also contains the hymn's words in Spanish: Señor, yo Te seguiré.
