In addition to the Holy Bible, there are three volumes that leaders and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regard as sacred scriptures: The Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price.
The contents of these three books have all been canonized, which means that they have been voted on and accepted as sacred works by representatives of the entire Church membership in a General Conference. There is much to be learned from each of the Latter-day Saint Scriptures.
Fortunately, since the early days of the Church, the books have been divided into chapter and verse formats. These facilitate personal and group study and precise citing of individual sentences and phrases.
The three volumes vary in length. The Book of Mormon has 239 chapters. The Doctrine and Covenants has 140 chapters (which are called Sections). The Pearl of Great Price has only 15 chapters, but they are so long that this author has sub-divided its chapters into shorter groups of verses which roughly correspond to the length of chapters in the other books of scripture.
Those who order this product will receive five items:
(1) a Bible Reading Checklist,
(2) a Book of Mormon Reading Checklist,
(3) a Doctrine and Covenants Reading Checklist,
(4) a Pearl of Great Price Reading Checklist, and
(5) a Scriptures Reading-time Calculations chart.
The Scriptures Reading-time Calculations chart tells how many days and weeks it will take to read each of the three books at daily reading rates of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 chapters per day. With that information, one’s setting of realistic reading-completion goals can be made with little difficulty.
